MRS FILLING STATIONS BACKED BY DANGOTE REFINERY HIKE FUEL PRICES

MRS filling stations in Abuja have increased the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to ₦875 per liter, up from ₦839 per liter.

A manager at an MRS station in Abuja, speaking anonymously, confirmed the N36 per liter increase on Friday. The station is owned by Sayyu Idris Dantata, half-brother of Aliko Dangote.

The price adjustment means that the recent N25 per liter reduction in petrol gantry price by Dangote Refinery, from ₦799 to ₦744 per liter, has not affected retail fuel prices.

With the latest increase, MRS’s retail prices are now on par with other filling stations, including those operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. Retail fuel prices in Abuja and surrounding areas currently range between ₦875 and ₦889 per liter.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote Refinery, which recently reached full production capacity, had earlier lowered its petrol gantry price to compete with imported fuel.
