Popular Afrobeats singer and entrepreneur, Oluwatosin Ajibade, widely known as Mr Eazi, has announced his intention to contest for the presidency of Nigeria.

The award-winning artist made the revelation in a recent statement, noting that he has been considering the decision for a long time and now feels ready to take the bold step into politics.

“I have been thinking about it. I think it’s time to share it with you guys,” Mr Eazi said. “Some of you might be from some country, specifically in Africa, and you are looking for a president — a president who is not looking for money and power but forward-thinking, young, active, and can move your country better.”

According to the “Skin Tight” crooner, his motivation is not financial gain or power, but a genuine desire to bring transformation and sustainable development to Nigeria and the African continent.

Mr Eazi, who recently tied the knot with his longtime partner Temi Otedola, has built a reputation as not just a musician but also a visionary entrepreneur. He is the founder of emPawa Africa, a platform that supports emerging artists across the continent, and has been involved in several tech and investment ventures.

The singer’s declaration has sparked widespread discussion across social media, with fans and commentators debating the feasibility of his political ambitions.

While Mr Eazi has yet to disclose which political party he plans to align with or the year of his intended campaign, his statement marks one of the boldest political declarations from an Afrobeats star to date.
