Actress Lilian Afegbai has described her role as Idia in the trending film To Kill A Monkey as a perfect example of preparation meeting opportunity.

Speaking with Saturday Beats, Afegbai expressed her passion for the character and the film’s narrative. “I was genuinely excited about playing Idia and couldn’t wait to bring her to life. This project was truly divine alignment—an opportunity I had prepared for. Working with director Kemi Adetiba, who beautifully told such an authentic story despite not being from Edo, made the experience even more special.”

When asked about her on-screen chemistry with co-star Bucci Franklin, who plays her husband in the movie, Afegbai praised his talent and dedication. “Bucci is an incredible actor. We were very intentional about making our connection believable. We rehearsed countless times and spent a lot of time together off-camera, which helped us build a genuine friendship. That bond translated into the chemistry that resonated so well with viewers.”

She also shared that the cast underwent extensive stunt training for several months before filming began, highlighting the dedication involved in bringing the story to life.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
