In a significant political shift, over 100,000 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lega Local Government Area of Kebbi State have abandoned the party.

The defectors formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a massive rally held over the weekend. ADC’s official mobilization handle reported that more than 120,000 supporters made the switch.

Notably, Abubakar Malami, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation from Kebbi State, has been instrumental in encouraging politicians to move to the opposition. Currently detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Malami had previously adopted the ADC as his platform for the 2027 general elections.

The ADC has continued to attract substantial numbers of defectors from various states across the country, strengthening its national presence ahead of upcoming elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
