MOB LYNCHES NSCDC OFFICER AT JIGAWA MARKET, 3 ARRESTED
Tragedy in Jigawa: Mob Kills NSCDC Officer in Shuwarin Market
A tragic incident unfolded on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Shuwarin Market (Kara), located in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, as a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer was lynched by a mob.
The victim, Superintendent Bashir Adamu Jibril, was reportedly on official assignment within the cattle section of the market when he was violently attacked by a group of individuals armed with knives.
According to the NSCDC spokesperson, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, the mob overpowered the officer and inflicted fatal injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
“The officer was on duty when he was attacked. Sadly, despite efforts to save his life, he died from the injuries,” Tijjani stated.
The NSCDC has arrested three key suspects in connection with the killing, while others involved are still at large. The command says it is working closely with other security agencies to ensure that all culprits are brought to justice.
“We have arrested three suspects so far. Investigations are ongoing, and we assure the public that justice will be served,” Tijjani added.
The NSCDC strongly condemned the brutal killing and urged the public to remain calm as security operatives continue their investigation. The command also appealed to residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to cooperate fully with security agencies.
“We understand the pain this has caused but we call for calm. Let the law take its course,” the statement concluded.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about mob justice and the safety of security personnel on duty in volatile areas across the country.
