MISSING NIGERIAN WOMAN FOUND SAFE IN QATAR HOSPITAL

A 37-year-old Nigerian woman who was declared missing shortly after arriving in Doha, Qatar, has been found safe and reunited with her family, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed. The development comes after concerns were raised when her relatives were unable to reach her following her arrival in the country.

The woman had travelled from Lagos to Doha aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1408 and reportedly lost contact with her family shortly before or after the aircraft landed. Earlier checks by the airline showed that she had arrived safely, collected her luggage and exited the airport terminal, but her whereabouts remained unknown afterwards.

Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, had raised the alarm publicly, explaining that his sister was visiting Qatar for the first time and did not have friends in the country. He said accommodation had been arranged and paid for before her trip, while a person assigned to pick her up from the airport had waited for her but could not locate her.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, had earlier assisted the family in tracing her movements. He said checks were being conducted to determine whether she had reached her booked hotel and had also raised concerns about possible human trafficking or forced labour while efforts to establish her whereabouts continued.

The family later received confirmation that the woman was safe after falling ill and being taken from the airport to a hospital. Jibo expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Embassy in Doha, Qatar Airways, the NCAA official and Nigerians who helped amplify the search, bringing an end to the anxious search for the woman.
