Faith Ekwebenam, representing Anambra State, has been crowned Miss International Nigeria 2025.

The grand finale, held on Sunday, saw Ekwebenam triumph over other contestants to claim the national title. She will represent Nigeria at the 63rd Miss International pageant scheduled for November 27, 2025, at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.

At the end of the competition, Miss Lagos emerged as first runner-up, while Miss Bauchi, Miss Edo, Miss Cross River, and Miss Nasarawa secured second to fifth runner-up positions.

Ekwebenam’s victory continues Nigeria’s consistent presence at Miss International, following Perpetual Ukadike’s participation at the 2024 edition. The pageant, regarded as one of the world’s “Big Four” beauty contests, emphasizes not only beauty and elegance but also cultural exchange and advocacy. Ekwebenam is expected to champion projects that showcase Nigeria’s heritage while promoting goodwill globally.

In a related development that placed Anambra State in the spotlight, Onyinyechi Basil also emerged victorious as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 in a separate contest held in Lagos.

Basil secured the crown after a keenly contested finale, standing alongside Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, as one of the last two contestants before being declared winner. Other top finalists included Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, who finished as second runner-up, and Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, who was named third runner-up.

With both Ekwebenam and Basil preparing for their respective global stages, Anambra has made history by holding the crowns for Nigeria’s two leading international beauty franchises simultaneously—an achievement hailed by pageant enthusiasts as unprecedented.

All eyes are now on Nigeria’s representatives as they gear up for Miss International in Japan and Miss Universe later this year.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
