MILITARY VETERANS ADVOCATE ‘CERTIFICATE OF RETURN’ TO EASE REINTEGRATION
A group of retired military personnel has called on the government to introduce a ‘Certificate of Return’ as part of efforts to support the smooth reintegration of veterans into civilian life.
Speaking at a public forum on veterans’ welfare, the ex-service members explained that such a certificate would formally recognize the contributions of military personnel and serve as a tool to facilitate access to employment, education, and other social services after leaving active service.
The veterans highlighted that many former service members face challenges adjusting to civilian life, including difficulties securing jobs, accessing loans, and obtaining government support. They argued that a formal certificate could help reduce bureaucratic obstacles and ensure that veterans are treated with dignity and respect.
According to the advocates, the initiative is not only a recognition of the sacrifices made by military personnel but also a practical measure to empower them economically and socially. They urged the federal and state governments to collaborate with veterans’ associations to design and implement the certificate scheme.
The group also called for public awareness campaigns to educate communities on the importance of supporting returning veterans and ensuring their skills and experiences are utilized for national development.
In conclusion, the veterans emphasized that introducing a Certificate of Return would strengthen the relationship between the military and civilian sectors, promote social inclusion, and honor the commitment of those who have served the nation.
