MILITARY RESCUES 47 ISWAP CAPTIVES IN BORNO

Nigerian troops have rescued 47 people held captive by suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a military operation in Borno State.

According to military authorities, the rescue followed a series of coordinated offensives targeting terrorist hideouts in parts of the North-East. The operation led to the safe recovery of the captives, including women and children.

Security officials said the mission forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and secure communities affected by insurgent activities in the region.

The rescued individuals have reportedly been taken to a safe location, where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other humanitarian assistance.

Military authorities also disclosed that several insurgents were neutralised during the operation, while weapons and other items were recovered from the area.
