The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has distanced itself from a WhatsApp group falsely operating under its name, cautioning pensioners and the public not to engage with it.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Mohammed, clarified that the group titled Military Pensions Board, MPB was created by unidentified individuals and does not reflect the official position of the Board.

He emphasized that the MPB has not established any WhatsApp group for pensioners or veterans, describing those promoting such platforms as fraudulent actors.

“For clarity, the MPB communicates with pensioners and stakeholders only through its official social media handles, press releases, official statements, and other recognized channels,” he stated.

Mohammed reassured pensioners that their welfare remains the top priority of the MPB and encouraged them to always verify information through official contacts whenever in doubt.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
