MIKEL: SUPER EAGLES CAN STILL QUALIFY FOR 2026 WORLD CUP
Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has expressed confidence that Nigeria can still secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles currently sit third in Group C with 11 points from eight matches. They are set to face the Crocodiles of Lesotho and the Squirrels of Benin Republic in their final qualifying games.
Nigeria will play away against Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday before hosting Benin Republic next Tuesday to conclude their qualifying campaign.
Mikel urged the players to take full responsibility and give their best effort for the country.
“It would be a huge disappointment if Nigeria fails to qualify for the World Cup again,” Mikel said on the ObiOne Podcast. “Our destiny is in the players’ hands. They must win these two games—no excuses.”
