MC OLUOMO, OTHERS MOURN DEATH OF MUSHIN LEADER BABA ALADO

Lagos politicians, transport workers, socialites and community members have mourned the death of Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as “Baba Alado,” who died at the age of 83.

Faronbi died in the early hours of Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was the Olori Ebi of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin, and held several traditional and commercial titles, including Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and Babaloja of Aswani International Market.

For several decades, he was a prominent figure in Lagos grassroots politics, the transport sector and real estate.

His family announced his death on Saturday, and his remains were subsequently buried according to Islamic rites. Family members, friends, residents and prominent political and community figures attended the funeral.

Among those who paid their respects were Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Mushin Local Government Chairman Tunbosun Aruwe and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Chairman, Dr Oluseyi Jakande.

Faronbi was also a notable figure in the National Union of Road Transport Workers, where he was regarded as a leader.

Reacting to his death, NURTW National President Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, expressed sadness over the loss.

MC Oluomo described Baba Alado as a man who had made a lasting impact, saying his contributions and relationships within the transport and community sectors would be remembered.

Beyond politics and transportation, Faronbi was known as a socialite and was celebrated by prominent Fuji and juju musicians, including K1 De Ultimate, Osupa Saheed and Alabi Pasuma.

He was also involved in land development and real estate, although some of his activities in the sector were occasionally linked to legal and communal disputes.

His death has continued to attract tributes from political associates, transport stakeholders, socialites and residents of Mushin.
