Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has shared an emotional reflection on her love life, revealing that her only experience of true love has been with her son, Jamil.

Speaking in a candid interview with Zeze Mills on Friday, the 45-year-old singer admitted that what she once believed to be love in her past relationships including her marriage was, in hindsight, mere infatuation.

“I’ve never felt true love except with my son. Looking back at my relationships, even my marriage, I realise it wasn’t love,” Tiwa said. “I’ve tried repeatedly, so maybe love isn’t meant for me in this lifetime.”

Tiwa, who has never shied away from discussing her personal struggles, also touched on her 2018 divorce from music executive Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun, whom she married in 2013. She revealed that the marriage ended after attempts to reconcile failed, and she was battling postpartum depression following Jamil’s birth.

The ‘Kele Kele’ crooner recalled how the public was quick to criticise her without hearing her side, and how some prominent figures urged her to remain silent for the sake of her image.

Despite her reflections, Tiwa’s words carried no bitterness only a raw honesty that resonated with many fans, especially those who have questioned whether love is truly meant for them.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
