MAY YUL-EDOCHIE DEMANDS N1BN FROM EX-LAWYER EMEKA UGWUONYE OVER ALLEGED DEFAMATION
May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has slammed a N1 billion demand on former lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye over alleged defamation, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying.
In a cease-and-desist notice issued through her legal team, Graylaw Partners, May accused Ugwuonye of publishing damaging and false content about her on his social media platforms.
According to the letter, Ugwuonye’s posts were not only defamatory but also amounted to ridicule, harassment, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation. May further alleged that his actions put her safety at risk by instigating threats and malicious comments from third parties.
The notice stated:
“Your posts have transcended mere defamation, constituting ridicule, unwarranted and harmful behaviour, a calculated assault on our client’s reputation, and further imperilled her safety through malicious threats and demonstrably false allegations made by you and at your behest.”
May demanded that Ugwuonye immediately stop making such posts, withdraw the existing ones, issue a public apology, and publish a retraction across all his platforms. In addition, she is seeking N1 billion as financial compensation for the harm allegedly caused.
As of now, Ugwuonye has not publicly responded to the claims.
The case has already stirred conversations online, with many Nigerians closely watching how the legal battle between May Yul-Edochie and Emeka Ugwuonye unfolds.
