MATAWALLE MOVES TO BLOCK MEDIA REPORTS ON ALLEGED TERRORIST LINKS

Defence Minister Bello Matawalle has filed a lawsuit seeking to stop several Nigerian media platforms from publishing reports accusing him of having ties to terrorist groups.

His legal team submitted the suit on Wednesday at the Kano State High Court (Case No. 4).

Following the filing, the court issued an interim order restraining Sahara Reporters, Mikiya, Omoyele Sowore, and other listed media organisations from releasing any further stories related to the allegations, pending the hearing of the case.

This move comes on the heels of recent publications linking Matawalle to certain terrorist networks—claims that sparked nationwide reactions, especially after the change in defence leadership from former Minister Badaru to General Christopher Musa.

In his application, Matawalle urged the court to prevent the continued circulation of what he described as unfounded and harmful reports. He argued that the allegations lack credible evidence, misinform the public, and pose a serious threat to his reputation.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
