In a major political shake-up ahead of the 2027 elections, thousands of supporters from the APC, Labour Party, and ADC have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State.

The mass defection took place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Adoka town, attracting a huge crowd of residents, party faithful, and political stakeholders.

The defectors were welcomed by Senator Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South Senatorial District, who hailed the event as a powerful show of PDP’s growing popularity and strong grassroots connection.

Addressing the crowd, Senator Moro described the move as a bold and timely decision by the former APC, LP, and ADC supporters.

“This massive defection is a loud statement that our people are tired of political deceit and empty promises,” he said.

He reassured the new members of full integration into the PDP, promising inclusive governance, development, and better representation.

“You have returned home to a party that understands your struggles, feels your pain, and is genuinely committed to your progress,” Moro added.

With this wave of defections, the PDP appears to be gaining strong momentum in Benue State ahead of the 2027 polls.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
