‘MANY PEOPLE AROUND YOU AREN’T TELLING YOU THE TRUTH’ — PASTOR ADEBOYE WARNS PRESIDENT TINUBU
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed concern that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is receiving misleading information about Nigeria’s security situation from those around him.
Speaking during the RCCG’s November Holy Ghost Service themed “The Eve of Glory,” Adeboye referenced a recent statement from the Presidency which claimed that security across the country had significantly improved and that many internally displaced persons (IDPs) had returned home.
The respected cleric said the claims do not reflect the reality Nigerians are living in.
According to him, President Tinubu — whom he affectionately describes as his “in-law” — is being fed inaccurate reports by advisers who may not have his best interests at heart.
“When I heard my in-law, the President, say that all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said the person who wrote that speech does not like him,” Adeboye said.
“If someone argues that he read it because he reviewed it, then my conclusion is simple: many people around my beloved in-law are not telling him the truth.”
Adeboye further highlighted the disconnect between official claims and events on the ground, citing the recent killing of a traditional ruler in the North-Central region just a day after the Presidential statement.
He clarified that his comments were not meant to apportion blame, noting that the security crisis predates the Tinubu administration. Instead, he urged the government to focus on solutions.
The 82-year-old cleric proposed that the government seek 100 days of support from the United States under former President Donald Trump’s influence and give Nigeria’s new service chiefs a three-month performance deadline.
He emphasized that Nigerians have prayed long and hard for the nation and that “something must give.”
Drawing from his background in applied mathematics, Adeboye referenced Newton’s First Law of Motion, saying:
“A body will remain where it is unless compelled by an external force. Whatever method God chooses to use, peace will return to Nigeria.”
Adeboye also explained why he rarely speaks on national issues publicly.
As a senior figure under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), he said he must respect the chain of authority.
To make his point, he added,
“In the Bible, I discovered that a man not under authority cannot cast out a demon.”
