“MANY LIVE ON BORROWED WIGS AND OUTFITS” – COMEDIAN AY EXPOSES FAKE CELEBRITY LIFESTYLE
Popular Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has urged Nigerians to stop comparing their lives to what they see on social media, stressing that much of it is fake and carefully staged.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, AY highlighted how social media often paints a false picture of luxury and success, with influencers and celebrities showing off designer outfits, exotic vacations, and flashy cars that don’t always belong to them.
According to the comedian, many online personalities go to great lengths to maintain appearances, borrowing clothes, posing in hotel lobbies, and even taking pictures with other people’s cars — all to impress their followers.
“Many of these celebrities you envy are living on borrowed wigs, borrowed outfits, and borrowed lifestyles. Some take pictures in hotel lobbies and call them their new homes, while others pose with cars that don’t belong to them. Social media is like a movie set; not everything you see online is real,” AY said.
He concluded by encouraging his fans to focus on personal growth, live authentically, and avoid the pressure of competing with illusions. AY emphasized that true happiness comes from contentment, not comparison.
