MANCHESTER CITY APPEALS PREMIER LEAGUE DISCIPLINARY RULING
Manchester City have formally appealed the findings of an independent Premier League commission in the club’s long-running disciplinary case.
The club confirmed that it filed its appeal at 7pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, challenging the commission’s findings on several grounds.
The appeal follows a commission decision published by the Premier League on September 29, which found City guilty of serious breaches of the league’s financial rules between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons, as well as most of the charges relating to its cooperation with the investigation.
Manchester City has rejected the findings and maintained that the commission’s opinion contains errors of law, principle and fact. The club also said it has evidence supporting its position and continues to deny the accusations.
The Premier League confirmed that the appeal has been lodged with the chair of its Judicial Panel.
The case will now proceed before an independent Appeal Board, whose hearing will remain private and confidential until publication of the outcome is permitted. The board has the authority to uphold, dismiss or vary the commission’s decision.
The outcome of the appeal will determine the next stage of the disciplinary process, which remains ongoing.
