Manchester United have announced new squad numbers for several players ahead of the 2026/27 season, giving fans a first glimpse of changes to expect on the pitch when the action resumes.

Among the highlights are shirt number changes for some of United's exciting young talents.

Tyler Fredricson, a 20-year-old Academy product who impressed last season, is getting a promotion of sorts — moving from number 55 to 33

Fredricson made his Premier League debut in April against Wolves and also featured against Brentford. His new number reflects his growing role in the squad.

Chido Obi, who only joined from Arsenal’s Academy in November last year, is also stepping up. The 17-year-old forward switches from number 56 to 32, a sign of the club's faith in his development.

It’s not just the young guns getting updates. Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot has officially taken the classic number 2jersey, while new signing Matheus Cunha will wear the iconic number 10, previously worn by greats like Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford.

Also making their mark in the first-team setup are:

Shea Lacey – Number 61

Bendito Mantato – Number 70

Reece Munro – Number 65

These changes are always a thrill for supporters, often signaling a player’s rise in status or a new chapter in their career. For the youngsters especially, new numbers often mean a bigger role in the manager’s plans — and possibly more time on the pitch.

With the new season just around the corner, fans will be eager to see how these rising stars and seasoned players live up to their numbers.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
