A man, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, reportedly fell from one of the upper floors of the iconic 26-storey Cocoa House in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of Monday. The incident caused panic within the business district surrounding the historic building.

An eyewitness said, “At first, I thought it was a large bird falling from the sky. It wasn’t until the body hit the ground that I realized it was a person. I had my phone on me, but I was too stunned to record anything.”

Another witness described the scene as horrifying, stating, “The man hit a roof next to the security post before finally landing on the ground.”

As of the time of this report, the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the management company overseeing Cocoa House, Odu’a Investment Company Limited, confirmed the occurrence.

Victor Ayetoro, Head of Branding and Communication at Odu’a Investment, said, “The individual was promptly assisted by the emergency response team and transported to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for immediate medical care.”

The company expressed deep concern over the incident and assured the public of its full cooperation with ongoing investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
