MAN CITY HIT BY INJURY BLOW AS MARMOUSH DOUBTFUL FOR MAN UTD DERBY
Manchester City have been dealt a setback ahead of their Premier League derby clash with Manchester United this weekend, as forward Omar Marmoush picked up a knee injury while on international duty with Egypt.
The 26-year-old was forced off in the ninth minute of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Tuesday after a heavy tackle just four minutes into the game.
Marmoush initially tried to play on but could not continue, prompting an early substitution. The Egyptian FA later confirmed he had sustained a bruised knee ligament injury and will undergo further assessment by Manchester City’s medical team.
His availability for Sunday’s showdown at the Etihad Stadium remains uncertain, leaving Pep Guardiola sweating on the fitness of a player who has quickly become an important attacking option for the champions.
