Detectives of the Igbesa Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old man, Chidi Ebere, for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist, Sunday Ogbu.

The incident occurred on Wednesday around 7 a.m. in Igbesa, when the suspect reportedly posed as a passenger before attempting to hijack the motorcycle. This led to a violent struggle during which the victim was stabbed.

According to the police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, a witness raised the alarm, prompting officers to respond swiftly. The victim was rushed to a hospital but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The suspect was immediately apprehended at the scene, while the motorcycle and the knife used in the attack were recovered as evidence.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured the public that justice would be served, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
