Tragedy struck in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State after a man identified as Ocholi Cornelius Ochoni was abducted while delivering ransom money for the release of a five-year-old girl.

The incident occurred on October 22, 2025, around the Echukwu area of Bassa, when Ocholi reportedly went to hand over the ransom to kidnappers to secure the freedom of Omaojo Philip, a child who had been abducted earlier in the week.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the kidnappers released the little girl unharmed after receiving the ransom but immediately seized Ocholi and whisked him away to an unknown location.

Security operatives are said to have launched a search operation to track down the abductors and rescue the victim.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious movements to law enforcement agencies as efforts to locate Ocholi continue.
