MAKKAH GRAND MOSQUE MUEZZIN IBRAHIM AL-MADANI DIES
** **Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al-Madani, a longtime muezzin of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, has died at the age of 51.
His death was announced on Monday, September 21, 2026, with reports stating that he had delivered his final call to prayer at Masjid Al-Haram earlier that day.
Al-Madani was one of the principal muezzins of the Grand Mosque and was particularly associated with the Fajr call to prayer. He also served from the mosque’s muezzins’ platform, relaying the imam’s takbeers to worshippers.
Born in Madinah in 1976, Al-Madani developed an early connection with the Adhan. He began serving as a muezzin at a neighbourhood mosque as a teenager and later resumed the role at Masjid Al-Maddah before being formally appointed as a muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram in 2017–2018.
Reports said his funeral prayer was scheduled to be held after the Asr prayer on Monday at Masjid Al-Haram, after which he would be buried at Al-Mu’alla Cemetery in Makkah.
His death has prompted tributes from worshippers and followers who remembered his distinctive voice and years of service at the Grand Mosque.
