Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that a victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election will reaffirm the party’s dominance in the state.

Governor Makinde made this statement during the official flag-off of the PDP’s campaign at Bodija Market in Ibadan, where the party formally presented its candidate, Mr. Folajimi Oyekunle, with the party flag.

Describing Oyekunle as “trusted, competent, and the right man for the job,” Makinde expressed full confidence that the PDP would retain the seat and continue to deliver quality representation.

“A win for us on August 16 is not just about one seat—it’s about sending a message that the PDP remains the preferred party of the people in Oyo State,” Makinde said.

He also thanked residents for their continued support and urged all eligible voters in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency to turn out in large numbers on election day to cast their votes.

Also speaking at the event, the Campaign Director-General, Mr. Ademola Omotosho, called on the people of the constituency to rally behind Oyekunle, stressing that every vote would count in securing a better future for the area.

With the campaign now in full swing, all eyes are on August 16, as the PDP aims to maintain its stronghold in Oyo politics.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
