Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, has said his proposed administration would seek to reset Nigeria within four years if elected president in the 2027 general elections.

Makinde made the statement on Monday at the APM North-Central Town Hall Meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

He said his proposed agenda would focus on creating a new security architecture, improving education, restructuring the economy through the use of data, science and logic, and changing the country’s socio-political environment.

Makinde said the programme could be implemented within one presidential term through what he described as adequate planning, commitment and energy in governance.

He also said his administration would operate a transitional government of national unity, which he said would lead to new political actors and an agenda for sustainable development.

The governor criticised the Federal Government’s approach to tackling insecurity, questioning whether adequate budgetary provisions had been made for some measures, including the establishment or expansion of military formations.

He also discussed Oyo State’s finances, saying the state’s dependence on federal allocations had risen to almost 80 per cent after previously declining to about 65 per cent in 2022.

Makinde, who joined the 2027 presidential race under the APM, said his proposed national agenda would address security, education, economic management and governance.
