MAKINDE HOLDS TALKS WITH KWANKWASO AS PDP RECONCILIATION WORSENS
Seyi Makinde has met with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso amid growing concerns over deepening divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The meeting, which has sparked political discussions, comes at a time when reconciliation efforts within the PDP appear to be facing fresh setbacks following internal disagreements among key stakeholders of the opposition party.
Although details of the discussion were not officially disclosed, political observers believe the talks may be linked to ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections and attempts to build alliances among opposition figures.
Makinde, a prominent PDP leader and one of the influential voices within the party, has been involved in several political consultations in recent months as debates over the party’s future and leadership direction intensify.
Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), remains a significant political figure in northern Nigeria and continues to command a strong following through the Kwankwasiyya movement.
The meeting between both leaders has fueled speculation about possible political collaborations or broader opposition strategies as political actors begin early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
The PDP has been grappling with internal tensions since the 2023 general elections, with disagreements among party leaders affecting reconciliation moves aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future contests.
Political analysts say the ability of opposition leaders to resolve internal disputes and build strategic alliances could play a critical role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape in the lead-up to the next general election.
