MAIDEN MFM YOUTH GAMES BEGINS

The maiden Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Youth Games has commenced at Mountain Top University, with more than 1,000 athletes and officials from 17 mega regions participating in the competition.

The multi-sport event features football, basketball, athletics, table tennis, scrabble and chess, with participants competing for honours and opportunities for talent discovery.

The opening ceremony featured a football match between Mountain Top University and MFM Ministries, with the university side securing a 1-0 victory.

The General Overseer of MFM, Dr Daniel Olukoya, represented by Pastor Kunle Adesanya, said the competition would provide young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and develop their talents.

The Director of Sports at MFM Ministries, Godwin Enakhena, said talent discovery was a major objective of the games. He noted that the organisers were searching for future stars who could represent Nigeria in various sports.

He cited athletes such as Wilfred Ndidi, Ese Brume and Tobi Amusan as examples of talents who emerged through MFM's sporting programmes.

Participants also expressed excitement about the opportunity to compete at a major event and gain exposure as the games continue at Mountain Top University.
