Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has declared that his administration will no longer tolerate banditry and criminal activities, vowing to flush out offenders from all parts of the state.

Speaking during a visit to the Olumafon of Imafon, Oba Samuel Aliu, the governor assured residents of intensified security measures following recent killings in the community.

He noted that although insecurity is a national challenge, his government remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

The governor revealed that security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the military, are working with local hunters and vigilantes to secure forests and affected communities.

Aiyedatiwa added that over 100 suspected kidnappers have already been arrested and prosecuted, with ongoing operations targeting criminal hideouts.

He also announced plans to establish Amotekun posts in troubled areas to improve surveillance and response time.

The governor’s remarks follow protests by residents of affected communities over rising insecurity, which recently led to multiple deaths.

In response, Oba Samuel Aliu commended the government’s efforts but raised concerns about inadequate weapons for vigilantes and delayed response from some security personnel.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
