Tacha Reveals Why She Chose Nigeria Over London for Guinness World Record Attempt

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has opened up on why she decided to hold her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the most makeovers done in 24 hours right in Lagos, Nigeria, instead of the United Kingdom.

Speaking during a chat with influencer Egungun at her Tacha Beauty Festival, the former Big Brother Naija star said her choice was intentional — aimed at celebrating and promoting Nigeria’s creative and entrepreneurial energy.

“London won’t give me the vibes I want,” Tacha said. “I had sponsorship offers from international brands and we initially planned to do it in London. But it always makes sense to carry your country along.”

According to her, the attempt wasn’t just about breaking a record but about showcasing the vibrancy, talent, and potential of Nigeria’s beauty industry on a global stage.

The 24-hour record attempt kicked off in Lagos on Saturday night, with Tacha targeting 150 makeovers within the timeframe. By Sunday morning, she had already achieved 115 makeovers in just 12 hours, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 113 completed in 24 hours.

The attempt is part of the Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day event running from October 10 to 12, celebrating beauty, culture, creativity, and resilience within Nigeria’s ever-growing beauty industry.

Fans and supporters have since flooded social media with praise, commending Tacha for choosing to represent Nigeria proudly and inspiring local talents to dream big — right from home.
