LIVERPOOL’S KONATé NEARS NEW CONTRACT AGREEMENT
Liverpool F.C. defender Ibrahima Konaté says he is close to agreeing a new contract that could keep him at Anfield beyond this season.
The France international, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, said discussions over an extension are “in a good way” and progressing positively.
Konaté, 26, noted there is a “big chance” he will still be at the club next season if negotiations are completed.
The centre-back has made over 100 Premier League appearances and has become a key part of Liverpool’s defence since his arrival.
He also acknowledged that the club has had a disappointing season by its standards but stressed his commitment to helping them finish strongly and secure Champions League qualification.
Konaté added that Liverpool remains a special place for him, describing it as an “amazing club and family.”
