LIVERPOOL SEAL RECORD £125M DEAL FOR ALEXANDER ISAK FROM NEWCASTLE
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a British-record transfer fee of £125 million to sign striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
According to reports from The Telegraph and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Swedish forward has agreed personal terms with the Reds and will undergo a medical on Monday, just before the transfer window closes at 7 pm.
The deal, set at £125m, will break the current British transfer record of £115,m which Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo in 2023.
Liverpool had previously submitted a £110m bid plus add-ons earlier in August, but Newcastle rejected it, insisting they would only sell under strict conditions and valuing Isak at £150m.
The saga intensified after Isak made a controversial statement on Instagram earlier this month, publicly expressing his desire to leave. In his post, he revealed that “promises were broken” and that trust between him and Newcastle had collapsed. The club, however, strongly refuted his claims, stating that “no commitment has ever been made,” allowing him to leave.
Despite the back-and-forth, Liverpool has now secured their man. Since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022, Isak has been one of the Premier League’s standout forwards, scoring 62 goals and providing 11 assists in 109 appearances.
With this record-breaking transfer, Liverpool has added a proven goal scorer to their squad as they prepare to defend their Premier League crown.
