LIVERPOOL HELD BY FOREST IN THRILLING ANFIELD COMEBACK

Liverpool are forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at Anfield after twice coming from behind in an entertaining Premier League encounter.

Nottingham Forest took the lead in the 24th minute when Dan Ndoye finished a counter-attacking move to put the visitors ahead.

Liverpool struggled to break through Forest's disciplined defence during the first half and went into the interval trailing 1-0. Florian Wirtz thought he had levelled the score before the break, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The Reds eventually found their equaliser in the 60th minute through new signing Alexander Isak, who produced a composed finish after good work from Cody Gakpo.

Forest restored their advantage eight minutes later after a penalty was awarded to the visitors. Morgan Gibbs-White stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to make it 2-1.

Liverpool responded with increased attacking pressure as manager Andoni Iraola made changes in an attempt to turn the game around.

The pressure finally paid off in the 82nd minute when Víctor Muñoz produced a superb strike to bring Liverpool level at 2-2 and rescue a point for the hosts.

The final stages remained tense, with both sides pushing for a decisive goal, but neither could find a winner before the final whistle.

The result means Liverpool have now collected just one point from their opening league fixture recorded in the current standings, while Forest leave Anfield with a valuable away point.

For Liverpool, the draw will be viewed as a disappointing outcome after twice fighting back, particularly in their first Premier League home game under new manager Andoni Iraola.

Forest, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their performance at Anfield, having twice taken the lead and demonstrated their ability to frustrate Liverpool's attacking players.

The match also highlighted Liverpool's attacking potential, with Isak scoring on his home league debut and Muñoz making a significant impact with his late equaliser.

Liverpool will now look to improve defensively and convert their chances more efficiently as the new Premier League campaign continues.
