LIVERPOOL, ARSENAL SET FOR BATTLE AS SEMENYO’S £65M CLAUSE ACTIVATES
Premier League clubs are gearing up for a fierce transfer battle as Antoine Semenyo’s £65 million release clause becomes active during the January window.
According to Sky Sports, the Bournemouth forward’s clause — £60m plus £5m in add-ons — is only valid for a limited period within the winter market. The clause was included in the new five-year deal Semenyo signed with the Cherries over the summer.
Before committing to Bournemouth, several clubs had already made enquiries about the Ghanaian star. But with his impressive form this season, the list of admirers has grown even longer.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham are all expected to make moves for the 25-year-old, whose stock has risen sharply thanks to his dynamic performances. Semenyo has already scored six Premier League goals this season, becoming one of Bournemouth’s standout players.
A potential transfer would also benefit his former club, Bristol City, who are entitled to 20% of any profit Bournemouth make after selling him. Having originally sold Semenyo for around £10m in January 2023, the Championship side could be in line for a significant windfall.
With some of England’s biggest clubs circling and a time-limited release clause in play, the race for Semenyo is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing storylines of the upcoming January transfer window.
