LIVERPOOL AGREE £123M DEAL TO BRING PSG STAR BARCOLA TO ANFIELD

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of French winger Bradley Barcola in a deal that could become worth up to £123 million.

The 23-year-old France international is expected to undergo his medical this weekend before completing his move to Anfield. The agreement includes an initial payment of £106 million, with a further £17 million available in performance-related add-ons.

Barcola is set to sign a five-year contract with Liverpool, bringing an end to a lengthy transfer pursuit by the Premier League club. Liverpool had identified the PSG forward as one of their major attacking targets during the summer transfer window.

The deal will make Barcola the second-most expensive signing in Liverpool's history, behind fellow new arrival Alexander Isak.

PSG had initially placed a much higher valuation on the French winger, but Liverpool eventually succeeded in negotiating a package that could reach £123 million depending on the fulfilment of the agreed add-ons.

Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 and quickly established himself as an important member of the French champions' squad. During his time in Paris, he made 152 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 37 assists.

His spell with PSG was also decorated with major honours. The winger won three Ligue 1 titles, two French Cups and two consecutive Champions League titles during his time at the club.

Liverpool's decision to pursue Barcola comes as the club continues to reshape its attacking options. The arrival of the Frenchman is expected to provide greater pace, creativity and versatility in the final third.

Barcola can operate on either flank but has primarily featured as a winger, where his acceleration, dribbling ability and direct style make him a significant attacking threat.

The transfer is also expected to strengthen Liverpool's squad following the departure of Mohamed Salah and amid an injury setback affecting forward Hugo Ekitike.

With personal terms already agreed, attention will now turn to Barcola's medical and the completion of the final paperwork before Liverpool officially announce the signing.

If the move is completed as expected, Barcola will become one of the biggest additions of Liverpool's summer recruitment drive and another major statement of intent from the club ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
