Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges following his dramatic arrest in Los Angeles last week.

The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, faces three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. If convicted, he could spend up to five years in prison.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a nude man wandering along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City in the early hours of Thursday. When they arrived, Lil Nas X allegedly charged at them, leading to a violent altercation. Authorities said three officers were injured during the incident.

He was also taken to a hospital for a possible overdose before being booked into jail, where he spent the weekend. On Monday, he appeared in court, and his bail was set at $75,000.

Unverified videos shared by TMZ showed the “Old Town Road” hitmaker first dancing in white underwear and cowboy boots, before later walking completely nude in the middle of the road. In one clip, he appeared to rap lyrics from Kanye West’s song Monster. In a bizarre twist, his white cowboy boots were reportedly picked up by a passerby and later listed on eBay for $10,000.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman condemned the incident, saying:
“Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”

Despite the legal trouble, Lil Nas X is still gearing up to release his second studio album, Dreamboy, later this year. He recently teased new music on Instagram, building anticipation among fans.

The rapper first rose to fame in 2019 with Old Town Road, which became the longest-running No.1 hit in Billboard Hot 100 history. He has since won two Grammys and continued to spark conversations with his bold music videos and unapologetic personality.

For now, all eyes remain on his upcoming September 15 preliminary hearing, where the next phase of his legal battle will unfold.
