LIGUE 1: MONACO SET TO PART WAYS WITH POGBA

French Ligue 1 club Monaco are reportedly in talks with midfielder Paul Pogba over an early termination of his contract.

Pogba joined Monaco last summer on a two-year deal after returning to professional football following an 18-month doping suspension.

His first season at the club was disrupted by injuries, limiting his appearances and preventing him from establishing a regular role in the team.

There had been expectations that the former France international would feature more prominently this season. However, the arrival of Filipe Luís as Monaco’s new manager could lead to changes in the club’s midfield plans.

According to football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Monaco have offered Pogba a contract termination and want to reach a mutual agreement before September 1 so that the midfielder can find another club during the current year.

Romano reported that the decision now rests with Pogba, who is currently injured, with Monaco having already informed his representatives of the club’s position.

Pogba initially received a four-year ban after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) following a doping test in August 2023.

The midfielder maintained that the positive test was accidental and that he had unknowingly consumed a supplement containing the banned substance.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport later reduced his suspension to 18 months, allowing him to return to professional football in March 2025.

If the proposed termination is completed, Pogba’s time at Monaco will end after just one season, leaving the 2018 World Cup winner to consider the next stage of his career.
