LAWAL NAMES SHEHU BARAYA AS NEW HEAD OF ZAMFARA CIVIL SERVICE

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Shehu Baraya as the new Head of Service of the state, following the retirement of Yakubu Sani Haidara, who previously occupied the position.

The appointment was disclosed in Gusau by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Nakwada. According to the announcement, Baraya’s appointment takes immediate effect as he assumes responsibility for coordinating the state’s civil service administration.

Before his elevation, Baraya served as the Permanent Secretary of the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission. He is a career civil servant with extensive experience in public administration and has held the position of permanent secretary in several ministries during his years in the state civil service.

His appointment places him at the head of the state’s administrative machinery, with responsibility for helping to coordinate the activities of government ministries, departments and agencies and ensuring that civil service operations remain efficient and professionally managed.

Governor Lawal also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing Head of Service, Yakubu Haidara, describing his years of service as valuable to the development of the Zamfara State Civil Service. The governor expressed appreciation for Haidara’s dedication and wished him a fulfilling and rewarding life after retirement.

While congratulating Baraya on his new responsibility, Lawal urged him to draw on his years of experience to improve the performance of the state’s civil service. The governor specifically tasked the new Head of Service with promoting professionalism, strengthening discipline and raising productivity among public servants.

Lawal further charged Baraya to pursue greater efficiency across the civil service, stressing the need for an administration capable of delivering effectively on its responsibilities to the people of Zamfara. The governor said the appointment was consistent with his administration’s efforts under its Rescue Agenda for the state.

Baraya’s elevation marks a transition at the top of the Zamfara civil service following Haidara’s retirement and comes with expectations that his experience in different parts of the state’s public administration will be brought to bear on the performance and effectiveness of the workforce.
