LATE JORDAN EQUALISER CANCELS OUT FERNANDEZ GOAL IN NIGERIA 2-2 DRAW
The Super Eagles were held to a 2-2 draw by Jordan in an international friendly in Antalya, Turkey, on Tuesday night.
Jordan took the lead in the 17th minute through Musa Al-Taamari, before Nigeria had a goal from Raphael Onyedika ruled out for offside seven minutes later.
Nigeria responded in the 26th minute when Moses Simon levelled the score, finishing from close range after Ademola Lookman’s effort was blocked.
Four minutes before half-time, Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez put Nigeria ahead for the first time, calmly controlling Bright Osayi-Samuel’s cross before slotting home with his left foot.
The Super Eagles dominated much of the early second half but were unable to extend their lead. Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was forced off in the 57th minute due to injury, with Adebayo Adeleye coming on as a replacement.
Jordan equalised late in the match through Mohammad Al-Daoud, who struck 13 minutes from time.
Nigeria ended the game with ten men after substitute Alex Iwobi was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct in the closing stages.
