LATE ACTRESS TEMITOPE OSOBA TO BE LAID TO REST IN OGUN ON THURSDAY

The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has announced a new date for her burial, with the actress now scheduled to be laid to rest in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The fresh funeral arrangements were disclosed in an obituary shared through the actress’ official Instagram account on Monday, weeks after the family postponed an earlier burial date.

According to the new arrangements, Osoba’s remains will leave the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, at 9am on Thursday. The burial service is scheduled to take place between 10am and 11am at Akesan Club, located opposite the Iperu Morning Market in Iperu Remo. The family stated that the interment would follow immediately after the service at the Iperu Remo Cemetery, while mourners have been asked to wear white for the occasion.

The new date comes after the actress’ family postponed her initial burial arrangements in August. Osoba had originally been scheduled for burial on August 13, but the family announced the postponement less than 24 hours before the ceremony, saying further arrangements were needed before a new date could be communicated. The development followed a candlelight and artistes’ tribute held in her honour in Lagos.

Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, died in August at the age of 40, with her passing prompting an outpouring of grief across the Yoruba movie industry. The actress had previously spoken publicly about her battle with cancer and announced her return to acting in 2025 after undergoing treatment. Her death has also generated questions and conflicting accounts about the circumstances surrounding her final days, leading to calls from some individuals, including actor Yomi Fabiyi, for further investigation and an autopsy.

Despite the controversy surrounding her final days, the family has repeatedly urged the public to respect their privacy and avoid spreading unverified claims about her death. With the new arrangements now in place, colleagues, friends, fans and relatives are expected to gather in Iperu Remo on Thursday to pay their final respects to the actress and witness her interment.
