LASU WORKERS CALL OFF STRIKE, ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES TO RESUME AUGUST 13

Academic life at Lagos State University (LASU) is set to return to normal as workers officially end their strike.

The industrial action, which began on Thursday, July 31, 2025, was called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Staff Unions, leading the university’s Senate to suspend all academic and social activities. The deadlock was broken after a crucial meeting between LASU management and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

In a statement signed by Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, the university confirmed that JAC has agreed to resume work in full.

Classes, exams, and other campus activities across LASU’s Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe campuses will recommence on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Students are expected to return to their hostels the same day.

The 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, which were previously put on hold, will now kick off on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Students have been urged to return promptly and prepare adequately for the exams as the university community moves forward after weeks of disruption.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
