LASU CONDEMNS HOSTEL ALTERCATION

Lagos State University has condemned an altercation involving a woman and a female student inside one of its hostel rooms, saying the matter has been addressed by the university.

A video of the incident circulated on social media on Friday, showing the woman confronting and physically assaulting the student during an argument. The circumstances surrounding the confrontation could not be independently verified.

An X user who shared the video alleged that the woman had followed her daughter to the university hostel and attacked her daughter’s roommate. The claim, however, had not been independently confirmed.

The video generated reactions online, with users calling on the university authorities and relevant government officials to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of students living in the hostels.

Responding to enquiries, LASU said the matter had already been addressed but strongly condemned what happened.

“The matter has been addressed by the University. However, we condemn this in the strongest terms,” the institution said.

The university did not disclose details of the action taken or clarify whether disciplinary measures had been imposed on anyone involved.

The incident has also renewed attention on student safety and the need for proper procedures when parents or visitors have concerns involving students in university accommodation.
