LASRRA DIRECTOR DIES IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT FOUR DAYS BEFORE RETIREMENT
A senior official of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), Mrs. Serifat Olubukola Talabi, has sadly passed away just four days before her scheduled retirement and 60th birthday celebration.
Talabi, who was the Director of Procurement at LASRRA, reportedly lost her life in a road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. She was said to have been struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the highway near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp, in the Ibafo area of Ogun State.
The late director had already sent out invitations for a joint Thanksgiving, Retirement, and 60th Birthday event, slated for October 22, 2025, at the NERDC Conference Centre, NERDC Road, adjacent to the Fela Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos.
Confirming the incident, LASRRA expressed deep sorrow over the loss of one of its senior officials.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Basirat Lawal, described Talabi’s death as a painful blow to the agency, noting that staff were still struggling to process the news.
“We are still in shock after receiving the news. She was in the office on Friday, and all plans had been finalized for her retirement ceremony on October 22,” Lawal said.
“She was originally scheduled to retire on October 13, when she turned 60, but the ceremony was moved to October 22 due to the absence of our General Manager, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola. The agency will attend her burial.”
Records show that Mrs. Talabi joined LASRRA in 2018 and rose through the ranks to become a director in 2025. Colleagues described her as diligent, humble, and dedicated to her duties until her passing.
