LAMINE YAMAL UPSET OVER RASHFORD’S ARRIVAL AT BARCELONA AFTER BROKEN PROMISE
Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal is reportedly unhappy and frustrated following the club’s unexpected signing of Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.
According to El Nacional, Yamal feels let down by the La Liga giants after they allegedly promised during his contract renewal that Athletic Club’s Nico Williams was their only transfer target for the left wing.
Yamal, who shares a strong on-field bond with Williams from their time together with the Spanish national team, had looked forward to partnering with him at club level. He believed Barcelona would activate Williams’ €58 million release clause, but the deal never happened.
Instead, Barça brought in Rashford — a move that caught the 18-year-old off guard. Reports suggest the club did not even inform him ahead of time.
Williams eventually signed a long-term contract with Athletic Bilbao, extending his stay until 2035 after the Basque club filed a formal complaint against Barcelona over their pursuit of the winger.
Now, Yamal is said to be feeling both disappointed and sidelined. He believes the club could have done more to secure Williams and feels misled by the management’s lack of transparency.
The situation has stirred concerns about player morale, especially as the club prepares for a new season under coach Hansi Flick. While Rashford’s arrival adds depth to the squad, Yamal’s disappointment highlights the challenges Barcelona may face in balancing young talent with big-name signings
