LALIGA: REAL MADRID GO BACK TOP AFTER 1-0 WIN OVER GETAFE
Real Madrid reclaimed the top spot in the LaLiga standings following a narrow 1-0 win over Getafe on Sunday night.
The match took a dramatic turn when Getafe substitute Allan Nyom was sent off less than a minute after coming on. Real Madrid capitalised almost immediately, with Kylian Mbappe finding the back of the net to secure all three points for Los Blancos.
Mbappe’s strike marked his 50th goal of 2025 for both club and country — a remarkable milestone for the French superstar.
Getafe’s night went from bad to worse when Álex Sancris was shown a second yellow card in the 84th minute, leaving the hosts with nine men. Despite their disadvantage, they nearly found an equaliser late in stoppage time, but Thibaut Courtois pulled off a superb save to preserve Madrid’s lead.
The victory lifts Real Madrid to 24 points, two ahead of rivals Barcelona, who they are set to face next Sunday in what promises to be a thrilling El Clásico encounter.
