LAKURAWA GUNMEN KILL CUSTOMS OFFICER IN KEBBI CHECKPOINT RAID
A Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) officer has been killed in an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists on a checkpoint in Maje, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the assailants, reportedly on motorcycles, opened fire on the checkpoint before fleeing toward the border forests.
The attack follows a major security incident in the same area on October 31, when Lakurawa gunmen abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly during a raid in Bagudo town. The lawmaker was rescued on Saturday evening after a security operation, although details of the rescue remain undisclosed.
Residents in affected communities continue to live in fear as the group maintains a presence across rural areas of Bagudo LGA, taking advantage of the remote terrain along the Nigeria–Benin and Nigeria–Niger border corridors.
