LAGRIDE ADDS 400 VEHICLES FOR EMBER MONTHS

LagRide has deployed 400 new vehicles across Lagos as it prepares for increased demand during the 2026 Ember Months.

The e-hailing company also plans to bring more than 1,000 additional drivers, known as Captains, onto its platform between now and December.

The expansion was announced during the LagRide 2026 Driver Mobilisation and Fleet Flag-Off at the company’s centre in Lagos, where more than 100 newly inducted drivers set out in new vehicles.

LagRide said the 400 vehicles would be introduced in phases to improve availability and reduce waiting times during the busy September-to-December period.

The company is targeting more than 200,000 rides during the Ember Months, when movement across Lagos typically increases because of business activities, tourism, entertainment, airport traffic and end-of-year events.

LagRide Executive Director, Mildred Ekanem, said the company already has more than 2,000 vehicles operating across Lagos and is expanding its fleet to meet rising demand.

She said the company would also increase coverage in areas including FESTAC, Ikorodu and Ajah while adding more drivers to locations where it already operates.

The expansion is expected to give passengers more options during the period when transportation demand usually rises across the state.

LagRide said the initiative is focused on improving coverage and ensuring that more drivers are available to serve customers as activities increase towards the end of the year.

The company said it would continue the phased deployment and recruitment exercise through December as it works to strengthen its transportation capacity across Lagos.
