LAGOS URGES RESIDENTS TO REPORT POTHOLES, FLOODING AND REFUSE THROUGH CITIZENS GATE

The Lagos State Government has urged residents to use its Citizens Gate platform to report problems affecting their communities, including potholes, refuse heaps, blocked drainage channels and flooding. The initiative provides Lagosians with a direct channel to bring such issues to the attention of relevant government authorities rather than relying only on informal complaints within their neighbourhoods.

The government encouraged residents to report locations where damaged roads, accumulated waste or blocked drains are creating difficulties for members of the public. It said the platform was designed to make it easier for residents to communicate directly with government and request intervention on problems requiring attention across different communities in the state.

Through the Citizens Gate App, residents can submit complaints and also access selected government services from their locations. The platform is intended to provide a more structured way of receiving and processing public complaints, allowing government agencies to identify issues raised by residents and respond through the appropriate channels.

The Citizens Gate team also informed Lagos residents that its email channel remains available for complaints and enquiries. The state government called on residents to take a more active role in identifying challenges in their communities and bringing them to the attention of the authorities through the available platform.

The government said stronger participation from residents could improve communication between communities and government agencies and help ensure that problems requiring public intervention are formally reported. The Citizens Gate initiative is therefore being positioned as a channel through which Lagosians can directly draw attention to issues affecting their roads, drainage systems, waste management and other aspects of their communities.
