LAGOS TIKTOKER HOSPITALISED AFTER CAR CRASH DURING DISTRESSING LIVESTREAM
A Lagos-based TikTok content creator and livestreamer, Hamzat Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, has been hospitalized after deliberately crashing his vehicle during a live broadcast on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The incident occurred on Sunday during a viral livestream titled “RIP Peller,” which quickly drew widespread attention on social media. According to information obtained by PUNCH Metro, Peller was alone in his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz when he appeared visibly distressed while speaking emotionally on a phone call, reportedly with his girlfriend, Jarvis, amid speculation of a possible breakup.
During the livestream, the influencer made several alarming statements that worried viewers. At one point, he was heard saying, “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” and later added, “I’m scared. I’m scared.” In another emotional moment, he reportedly said, “If you leave me, people will mock me… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.”
Shortly afterward, the livestream showed Peller driving off before crashing his vehicle into a stone barrier, resulting in significant damage. A separate video clip circulating online captured bystanders rushing to assist him at the scene, and he was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical attention. As of now, the extent of his injuries has not been officially confirmed.
Images shared on social media revealed extensive damage to the Mercedes-Benz, underscoring the severity of the incident. This episode has sparked widespread concern among fans and fellow social media users, many of whom have called for increased awareness and support for mental health challenges, particularly among online influencers who face intense public scrutiny.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, stated that she would provide updates after obtaining full details from the Divisional Police Officer in the area. No official police statement had been issued at the time of this report.
Peller, who is 20 years old, previously made headlines in August after he was allegedly taken away by armed men while livestreaming on TikTok. In the widely circulated footage, he initially appeared to believe the men were security operatives before being escorted away.
